Dear all,
I am a PhD student (in my first year).
My research topic is the segmentation process of Platynereis dumerilii
(Nereididae).
I have observed with several in situ hybridization and paraffin sections
something like a "cavity" around the anus, in the pygidium and posterior to the
theoretical growth zone (maybe not dorsally)...
These observations are from tissues of regenerative and non-regenerative
posterior growth.
I don't really understand what it is.
Because different genes that are expressed in the mesoderm are also expressed
around and in this "anal cavity" (like they are in the regular coelomic cavity
!!)
Do you know something about this cavity ? in others polychaetes ? (or in others
annelida ?)
Which literature would you recommend ?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Nicolas.
