[Annelida] ZJLS news

I'd like to let everyone know of a couple of major changes at the
Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society.

Firstly, ZJLS has a new chief editor, Dr Peter Hayward, of polychaete
(and more recently bryozoan) fame.

And secondly, the journal now has an online manuscript submission-review
system which in time (after the backlog is cleared!) will speed up
considerably time to publication. I have appended below a note about
this new system and how to access it from the (former) Acting Editor,
John Edmondson.

Note that existing mss submitted to ZJLS which are out for refereeing
will NOT be handled using the new system

Please take advantage of this combination of events to submit your
high-quality polychaete (and other annelid) mss.

The Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society is now open for online
manuscript submission and review through the Manuscript Central website.
I am writing to inform you that the web address for submissions is:

http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/zoj

To access the site, click on this link or type the address into your web
browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Safari or equivalent).

On entering the site, you will be asked to log in. If this is the first
time that you have used the system you will be asked to register by
clicking on "Create account"at the top right of the screen. When you log
in for the first time, you will be also asked to supply your full postal
address, telephone, and fax number. If you find that your single use
password has expired, you can generate another new single use password
by entering your email address into the 'Password Help' box on the ZJLS
Manuscript Central login page.

You will then have two options: the Author Centre or the Reviewer
Centre. Choose the Author Centre for submitting a new manuscript, and
follow the instructions.

Please ensure that your manuscript is complete, and that images have
been saved in a suitable format for uploading (see Author Guidelines
<http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/submit.asp?ref=0024-4082&site=1> on
the ZJLS pages on the Blackwell Synergy website for further
information). You will be able to submit and upload your complete
manuscript as either a Word document, Rich Text Format (RTF) file or PDF
file. However, all diagrams, tables and figures must each be uploaded as
separate files. As part of the submission process, any uploaded files
will then be converted into journal-specific PDF and HTML versions (with
covering page) which you will be required to open and check before
submitting.. On completing the process, the system will automatically
notify the Editorial Office that your paper has been uploaded.
Thereafter you can log in to the system to keep abreast of the status of
your paper throughout the review process, through to revisions and the
final decision. We hope that authors will find this new system
beneficial and we look forward to a continued supply of high quality
papers.

Sincerely

JOHN EDMONDSON
