Giant Palouse earthworm (Driloleirus americanus), prairie native of
parts of Idaho and Washington
"The Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) just sent out a notice about
trying to protect the threatened habitat of this worm, and thus the
threatened worm itself, once abundant but now very rare. Since it is
probably the first time that a worm might be able to save an area, I
thought it deserved wider attention. It would not hurt if at least the
US contingent wrote in to the Fish & Wildlife Service. The article from
