However, there is certainly interspecific variation in feeding mechanism in spionid larvae, so larvae of different species may feed on foods of different types. E.g., larvae of Streblospio benedicti feed using opposed bands of cilia, but larvae of at least some other spionids feed using other (unknown) mechanisms. See B Pernet, L McArthur, 2006.
