[Annelida] Food of Spionid larvae

Another useful source might be this recent paper:

B Hansen, H Jakobsen, A Andersen, 2010. Swimming behavior and prey retention of the polychaete larvae Polydora ciliata (Johnston). Journal of Experimental Biology 213:3237-3246

However, there is certainly interspecific variation in feeding mechanism in spionid larvae, so larvae of different species may feed on foods of different types. E.g., larvae of Streblospio benedicti feed using opposed bands of cilia, but larvae of at least some other spionids feed using other (unknown) mechanisms. See B Pernet, L McArthur, 2006. Feeding by larvae of two different developmental modes in Streblospio benedicti (Polychaeta: Spionidae). Marine Biology 149:803-811.
