Dear all,
Who said that second parts are always worst than the first ones? Here are
for your own joy and entertainment the complete (I think) list of the short
papers by Kinberg, with the exception of the “Annulater”, published in the
Kongliga Svenska Fregatten Eugenies Resa...
Now, more seriously, I was surprised by the great interest in the first
paper (downloaded more than 100 times in less than 24 hours). As Geoff has
highlighted, this series of papers describe many new taxa, families, genera,
and species, from Harmothoe and Alitta to Piromis or Demonax. As I explained
to some of you who wrote directly to me, this is a series of publications I
bought some years ago to a Swedish antiquarian, with a single exception
(Kinberg, 1865), which I got from a library, as photocopies. I didn’t know
they were available at archive.org (thank you Gabriele), but as I had them
already scanned, here they go, anyway. I hope they can be useful for all of
you and your work. Feel free to use and to distribute them, but please, do
it for free (after all, that Swedish antiquarian was already well paid for
this...).
The papers were quite expensive (I would not say that I have paid their
weight in gold, but in silver, for sure), so I cannot find a better way to
amortize that investment than to share them with all of you. After all, all
of you have helped me a lot during these past years with my thesis, by
publishing, sending me papers, answering to my emails, or even by asking me
questions.
Now, the technical questions:
As with the first paper, the pdfs are in my Mediafire account, so all you
have to do is to follow the link after each reference and download it. As it
is a free account, you will have some publicity. I’m sorry for that. I
suppose that there is not a limit of downloads (I did a donation to
Mediafire yesterday, just in case) so I don’t expect problems in order to
download the pdfs.
However, you might have problems to download them with some kinds of
Firewalls and things like that (I’m not a great expert...), so if you can’t
download the papers, drop me a line, and we will look for another way to get
the pdfs to you. As far as I know these papers are not covered by
copyrights, but if you have them, or know that copyrights still exist, just
let me know and I will remove them as soon as possible. The papers will be
uploaded as far as there are downloads, but if you find that the link is
dead, write to me and I will upload them again, if possible.
I think that the publication dates are the correct ones, but if this is not
the case, maybe it is possible to corrected them here in Annelida.
Finally, I would like to thank to Geoff and to all of you who have written
to me or downloaded the pdf. I also would like to thank to my boss, Daniel
Martin, by his infinite (I hope!!!) patience, as I should be identifying
worms right now instead of being writing this. Thanks Dani! :)
