Dear annelidiens,
Good day for everybody.
I am presently writing a paper with Pat Hutchings and Leslie Harris for
which we should review the holotype of Terebella (Phyzelia) vayssieri
Gravier, 1911, which should be the type-species of Lanicides Hessle, 1917.
However, we cannot find the specimen. It should be lodged at the MNHN,
Paris, but according to the polychaetes curator of that museum, Dr Tarik
Meziane, the jar is empty...
According to Dr Meziane's records, the last person who asked that specimen
on loan was Damhnait McHugh, in 1993, but she returned the specimen in the
same year.
So, I am writing to ask if anyone has any idea where the specimen could be.
It is possible that the specimen was put in a wrong jar, or that someone
asked that specimen on loan after 1993 and did not return it yet, and
that was not registered in MNHN records.
Anyway, we would be very grateful if someone could give us a clue where the
specimen could be.
Best regards
João Nogueira
