Barbara,
At the current time, the one and only species of Nematonereis from the Mediterranean that can be quoted with reasonable security is Nematonereis unicornis (Grube 1840).
It is likely that several additional species may have to be recognized, but currently the material available is not enough to resurrect many of the previously named species. Note the use of Grube as author for the species; this is part of a long confused story, but at this point it appears that this is the correct conclusion.

Subject: [Annelida] Nematonereis oculata
Dear colleagues,
In the papers of Carus, 1884; Graeffe, 1905 and Stossich, 1883 I am
finding the records of Nematonereis oculata Ehlers, 1868. Should I
consider this species existing then in the Adriatic sea, or their
findings maybe refer to Nematonereis unicornis (Grube, 1840)?
Many thanks for your help,
Barbara
