[Annelida] FW: worm and tiny snails

Hi,

I have only seen the photo attached to the original e-mail, and would have to say the specimen is an unidentifiable polynoid as I can't make out the head (or, of course, the exact shape of the chaetae). However, it does look as though the scales have some sort of peri-marginal papillae, which Harmothoe extenuata has and Alentia gelatinosa doesn't.

Alex Muir.

Dear all,

Marco Faasse just informed me, it is in his opinion Lagisca extenuata.

This looks like Alentia gelatinosa (the only such species in Northern France).
Wormly,

Stephane

Hi All,

We were wondering which species of Polychaete is on attached picture.
The snails are Onoba semicostata, location France.
Also interesting to know, what are these snails doing?
Or is the worm consuming the snails?
We have no clue.
A 3 mb version of the photo is available if necessary (I suppose so).
Many thanks ,
David
