Dear Colleagues
A very easy solution for poster production for those of you who are bringing a poster to the IPC in Sydney in August is to use the Officeworks network in Australia for printing. The Officeworks web site allows for upload of the final file (.pdf, for preferred example), online selection of print size and payment with credit card or paypal. http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/print/posters-and-plans?product=postersandplans
A1 size in polyester is $Aust46 but glossy paper options are cheaper. Remember Pat Hutchings' recent email: AI is maximum acceptable size to fit everyone in.
Most importantly, you can use their store locator to select any officeworks store in Australia to pick up from. If you select their store in Pitt St, Sydney (use postcode 2010 in the store locator), Lena Kupriyanova has offered to arrange pickup from the store. Or you could do it yourself when you arrive in Sydney - it is very close to the Australian Museum and to most conference hotels. So no need to travel with posters. I haven't asked how long the Pitt St store would hold posters, but I guess if the file was uploaded and paid for about a week before the conference start that would be about right.
I have just produced a map in poster size this way to test their system (pickup in Melbourne) and the poster was ready to pick up the next day. My test was glossy polyester which looks great I was told in store that the paper options are also great and offer the additional option of satin finish options. The polyester is less vulnerable to creasing but perhaps scratches more easily. I intend to use paper for IPC poster.
(I would not normally promote a commercial site via the annelid list and I have not done an exhaustive search of other options, which include Kwikcopy http://www.kwikkopy.com.au/poster-printing/posters?gclid=CLqBiLS-l7gCFcZIpgodqyAAZA and no doubt others. But the above option is so convenient both for delegates and for Lena doing a bulk pickup on Pitt St that it deserves mention.)
