[Annelida] A little question

Hello Miguel,

In WoRMS Eunice siciliensis Grube, 1840 is the objective synonym of Palola siciliensis (Grube, 1840).

I couldn’t find a Palola siciliensis mention in Baird, 1869 “Remarks on several genera of annelides, belonging to the group Eunicea,…” . He seems only to have Eunice species, mostly his own names, and he says “to this family belong only two genera, Eunice and Marphysa. However, his Eunice madeirensis is now Palola madeirensis (Baird, 1869).

If you saw Palola siciliensis Baird, 1869 somewhere else let me know.

Cheers,

Geoff Read

Subject: [Annelida] A little question

Hi everyone;
I have a doubt and perhaps you could help me to resolve it. Can anyone confirm if Palola siciliensis Baird, 1869 is not a synonym of Eunice siciliensis Grube, 1840?. I ask this question, because in the World Polychaeta Databasea and in the MarBEF Data System, Eunice siciliensis doesn't appear but if it does in the World Register of Marine Species.
For other hand, Palola siciliensis appears in all of them.
Thanks all for your help
Kind regards
Miguel
