Hello all,

A Ph.D. student from my lab who I am co-supervising is interested in
understanding patterns in marine phylogeography along the Indian coastline.

She is interested in understanding the determinants of dispersal ability in
marine organisms, and the consequences of dispersal on phylogeographic
patterns. She is now in the process of choosing a suitable model system.

Of particular interest is the influence of development mode, habitat
suitability and oceanography in influencing phylogeography.

She is looking for a model system which fulfills the following requirements:

- has related species which differ in development mode
- has related species which differ in habitat suitability
- biological information is available in terms of (decreasing order of
importance) phylogenetic position, larval duration, habitat
characteristics, reproductive timing, generation time, distribution,
tolerance and larval behaviour

Are there any groups of polychaetes that you think can be used as useful
model species provided the requirements above? The most critical would be
available information on their Pelagic Larval Duration, common occurrence
on the coast and the ease of sampling them.

Any inputs or advice from you in this regard would be very helpful. I hope
to hear from you soon.

Best,
Naveen.
