Dear new species authors, editors and referees,
It's a concern to me how often I find a nonsensical type locality up on dry land, sometimes many kilometres from the sea up in the hills, when I am adding new taxa to WoRMS. Do try to get this correct as it's an important part of the permanent information on a species. People subsequently can't second-guess what was intended unless it's something straightforwardly silly like using a minus instead of a plus sign. It's very easy to verify coordinates. Referees and editors I suggest please do look up new type localities supposed coordinates in something like Geolocator http://tools.freeside.sk/geolocator/geolocator.html Otherwise you may be rubber stamping rubbish.
Thanks so much,
Geoff
