Dear Pat and Peter,
I am sorry to learn of RB Clark's passing. I too was, if fleetingly, his Ph.D. student, in 1956.
Best regards,
Barrie Jamieson

Subject: [Annelida] Bob Clark

We are sorry to announce the death of Professor R.B Clark on the 28th September at home in Newcastle UK where he was Head of Zoology for many years. He arrived from Bristol in the mid 1960's where he had been working on swimming movements in nereidids and conducted ground breaking work on the endocrine control of polychaete reproduction and regeneration and the links between them. Peter and I were among his PhD students and subsequent colleagues. Bob as he was known presented a stern façade and was always formally dressed but beneath that exterior was a warm and friendly person who was very interested in all aspects of polychaete biology. He was the founding editor of Marine Pollution Bulletin.

A fuller obituary will be included in the forthcoming proceedings of the 11th International Polychaete Conference.
