I too am saddened to learn of Nechama's passing. I first met her at the
Polychaete Conference in Sydney in 1983 and at other conferences over the
years; the last being in Italy in 2010. She was always interested in
hearing about our research and I will miss the occasional e-mails and
tri-annual encounters. She was successful in awakening interest in
polychaetes in Israel. I also recall her at the 6th Deep-Sea Biology
Symposium in Copenhagen in 1991. At that time, she presented a poster on
deep-sea work in the Eastern Mediterranean. I recall her stating that this
Poster was the first presentation from Israel on a deep-sea biology topic.
