Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It was with a heavy heart that I read of the passing of Kristian this
weekend. Words cannot express my sadness at the loss of such a generous and
supportive academic, and true gentleman. I would like to add my condolences
to his husband, colleagues, and many friends. Though I had met Kristian many
times over the years, benefiting from his voluminous knowledge, wise
counsel, and effortless hospitality, the memory that first came to mind
yesterday was of him taking time to put a young (and nervous)
polychaetologist attending his first IPC at ease and make him feel welcome.
I, as we all, will dearly miss him, and will hold tightly to our fond
memories of Kristian.
