Kristian was and remains an inspiration to all polychaete taxonomists. A
good man, ever encouraging and supportive, and great fun to be with. I
first met him at the First Polychaete Conference in Sydney in 1983. As a
young newcomer, I was amazed at how approachable and considerate he was.
Numerous other posts agree: he has given confidence and help to so many
budding polychaetologists over the years. I was honoured to have him as a
friend and as PhD examiner. Although we only intermittently met at
conferences, or workshops, or occasionally on fieldwork, and were
similarly in contact through correspondence, it was easy to take up again
as though no years had passed between meetings and he would always ask how
my family was. I will cherish all my memories of Kristian.
My condolences to Len, his family, his colleagues and all his friends
everywhere
