Dear friends and colleagues,
As some of you may already know, my PhD student Yanan Sun and I are
constantly looking Hydroides (Serpulidae) specimens for Yanan’s PhD project
on molecular phylogeny and barcoding of this genus. Many of you also have
seen our recent monograph on Hydroides of Australia

We now have photographs of this quality for all species of the genus
(thanks to Eunice Wong!), but only about a half of all valid (according to
WORMS) species are available for sequencing – so we always appreciate any
fresh ethanol-fixed specimens of Hydroides from remote (from an Australian
perspective) parts of the world. The molecular part of the project has to
be wrapped up by July 1 next year and when we will have until end of
December 2016 to finish writing up.
Also currently I am contemplating writing a book proposal for CSIRO
publishing in order to publish a fully-illustrated guide Hydroides of the
world. Before I submit such a proposal, I need to gauge potential interest
in such a book. Can you please let me know whether you would consider
purchasing a book on *Hydroides of the World* if my proposal is supported?
Or would you be interested to take a look at the proposal if you need more
information to make up your mind re your potential interest? Any feedback
is highly appreciated.
Hope to see many of you in Wales next year
Best,
Lena
