Hi there,
I am about to send some preserved biological specimens (in 99 % ethanol) overseas.
What are the protocols for packing etc. from the Australian end?
I’ve found an article by Bentley (2007) [Shipping and handling of natural history specimens in dangerous goods; Collection Forum 22 (1 – 2): 66 – 73] which states that appropriate training and certification is needed for the packer (dangerous and hazardous goods). This article is from the USA but I have found reference to the need for training on the Australian Civil Aviation website.
Rather than spending a few hours chasing this information I thought I would ask ‘they that know’ ☺
I need to ship at least 10 specimens of nereid (1 -2 g) in 99 % ethanol to Chile.
What MUST I be aware of and what MUST I do?
I thank you in advance.
