Dear worm people,
Please DO NOT reply to the list as it is meant to be a surprise for Pat
Hutchings. After 40+ years working in the Australian Museum Pat is formally
retiring on 1 July this year. I said “formally” because have no fear, Pat
is not going anywhere, she is just becoming a Senior Fellow and she would
probably not even mention it as a big deal during the IPC in August (yes,
both of us are coming), but I think it would be really nice if we could
show our appreciation for everything she has done over the course of her
long and amazingly productive career in polychaete research. Thus, I am
asking you to send me messages recounting your experiences of friendship
and collaboration with her, being mentored by her, sending her your
manuscripts, diving with her etc., whatever you can think of to say “thank
you Pat” and to help us to celebrate her lifetime of research and service
to the polychaete community. Even better, if you can attach some photographs.
It would be good to receive your contribution by June 28. I will collate
the everything and we will present the resulting collection to Pat as an
album during a party om July 1.
