Hi Geoff, Alex, Jorge and others,
An old but good reference is:
Szaniawski, H.
1996. Chapter 12. Scolecodonts; in: Jansonius, J. & McGregor, D.C. (ed.), Palynology: principles and applications; American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists Foundation, Vol. 1, p. 337-354.
Another one, limited to the order Eunicida (the most diverse polychaete fossils) is:
Geological Society, London, Memoirs
doi: 10.1144/M38.18
Geological Society, London, Memoirs 2013, v.38; p265-272.
Mats E. Eriksson, Olle Hints, Hannelore Paxton and Petra Tonarová
Chapter 18 Ordovician and Silurian polychaete diversity and biogeography
For anybody interested in the latter I would be happy to send the pdf.
Best wishes, Hannelore.

The Zoological Record has hundreds of references - go to the WEB OF SCIENCE website and search the Zoological Record database, asking for Topic Polychaeta AND Topic Palaeontology. The papers which come up are usually about individual occurrences of fossils - it might be time for an overview paper!
A reference I particularly like is:
Sutton, M.D., Briggs, D.E.G., Siveter, D.J. and Siveter, D.J., 2001. A three-dimensionally preserved fossil polychaete worm from the Silurian of Herefordshire, England. Proceedings of the Royal Society Biological Sciences Series B 268(1483):2355-2363.

Dear Colleagues:
Could I be directed to best references on the fossil record of Annelida, especially "Polychaeta". Ideally, the works recommended have extensive illustrations.
Gratefully,
Jorge
