Hello to all you lovely Wormy Folks out there,
This is the last reminder that International Polychaete Day is coming July 1st. The day was started to commemorate the many contributions of Kristian Fauchald whose birthday was July 1st. It is a great time to focus the publics attention on the wonderful animals we all work on and increase appreciation for the group. We will be celebrating here at Smithsonian NMNH with scientists and staff members on the Museum floor talking with visitors throughout the day about polychaetes (thank you Erica Keppel for collecting live animals for us to show!).
The hashtag for the day is #PolychaeteDay
Please participate in your part of the world if possible and let us know what you are doing so we can include it in the storify recap of the day (thank you to Teresa Derbyshire for putting that together!)
Have fun! It is so great to see all the creative things folks come up with,
Karen
PS: We are looking for someone to help us design and build a Chinese dragon style polychaete to dance around the museum next year and would love some help with that.
