[Annelida] wood-boring polychaetes

Just to note that there must be a careful distinction between animals which occupy spaces and the animals that create the spaces.
I'm pretty sure B. proboscidea for instance is able to be a secondary coloniser.

Hi all, I have also read about Sclerolinum (Siboglinidae) occurring inside
wood :)
