Dear Dani,
I have been receiving numerous invitations to submit papers to various
journals. They usually start of by complimenting me on one of my recent
papers on systematics or polychaete larvae. Then I get invited to their
journal. These from my spam folder include: Dentistry (misspelled as
Destistry!), Marine microbiology, Archives of bone and joint disease, Asian
Academic Research, Animal Health, Neonatal Health, J. of Material and
Chemical Engineering, Neurophysiology, J of Bone Disease, J. of Fishery and
Livestock Production, J. of Chest & Lung Disease, etc. Yesterday I was
invited to contribute to an open access book on larvae by a person and
publisher i never heard of. One wonders how a publication on polychaetes is
a qualification to publish on Dentistry or Chemical Engineering!
I believe that the majority of these invites are SPAM and an attempt to
lure one to a site where your privacy can be compromised and probably where
you have give out a Credit card number. Unless you know the publisher
and/or editors, one should ignore these and possibly mark them as SPAM for
yours and others security.
