[Annelida] Annelida list seeks a new home

Hi all,

You will have seen the message from Don Gilbert that his Bionet system is closing down in April if there is no last-minute white-knight offer to host it all elsewhere. This rescue is looking unlikely, and it means Annelida list will end also.

However, I hope we can find a new home for Annelida and continue the communication, and eventually (not too far off) I would like to hand over Annelida to someone else to run. There are various options for continuing it, but by far the best would be to find another listserver system running the simple GNU-Mailman free software we are so used to, with unmoderated posting, and no advertisements. If you know of an organization that still runs science-based Mailman lists, and has room for another list, please let me know.

Meantime it's hats off to Don Gilbert for the amazing facility provided to the worm-worker group over the last 24 years. I certainly never expected that sort of longevity, which began within a few years from the first spread of internet email for general use. Thanks so much Don.

The very useful complete Annelida archive from 1995 to 2019 is currently at http://www.bio.net/bionet/mm/annelida/ and Don tells me he hopes to continue to make the archive available via another host.

I will keep you all informed. Please stay subscribed. We currently have about 600 members.

Best wishes,

Geoff Read (Annelida list owner & founder)
