Position Available - Section Head - Plant Molecular Genetics

The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation is seeking applicants
with the necessary qualifications to initiate a new research section
within the Plant Biology Division. Candidates should have a
proven ability in applying their expertise to genetically tractable
systems such as (but not limited to) Arabidopsis. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous research program
utilizing genetic methods for elucidating the molecular mechanisms
underlying plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress, or for
studying topical problems in plant development.

The position is one of four Section Head position in the Plant
Biology Division. The successful applicant would be expected to
interact with the other groups which work on the biochemistry and
molecular biology of plant defense response genes, molecular virology,
and crop protection through gene transfer technology. The Foundation
offers a unique environment for creative and productive research with
stable in-house funding and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities
including a core-facility for DNA synthesis, automated DNA
sequencing and peptide sequencing. Excellent prospects exist for
achievement-based development of the Plant Genetics Section.
Technical and postdoctoral positions within the Section will be
advertised on appointment of the Section Head.

The Plant Biology Division has formal collaborative ties with
the laboratories of Drs. Christopher Lamb and Joanne Chory (Salk
Institute, San Diego) and contributes to a National Science Foundation
EPSCoR research cluster with researchers at Oklahoma State
University (including Drs. David Meinke and John Sherwood) in the
area of Molecular Analysis of Plant Biotic Stress. Currently the
Division employs 9 permanent faculty, 20 postdoctoral fellows and
13 support staff.

To apply, submit curriculum vitae, statement of research interests
and names of three referees to:
