Arabidopsis suspension cultures

There have been several messages recently concerning the establishment of
suspension cultures. What is the problem with the published procedures?

Ferl & Laughner (Plant Mol. Biol. 12, 357-366, 1989) reported the
establishmentof fine suspension cultures of Columbia by first establishing
callus on MS containing 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D, then transferring the callus to liquid
culture which were subcultured each six days.  I saw these cultures and they
were very fine suspensions.     Chris
