Dear Paul and the net,
We've been using "Clone 3" from Scientific and Educational Software
(Tel (717) 597 5307) which fulfills all of the criteria except for
historical record keeping. In addition, the "Enhance" program from
the same company will smarten up the maps to publication quality,
although it doesn't export the graphics to other programs very well:
only as PCX files. Enhance also has a clone database, though we haven't
been using it.
These programs fill the need for user-friendly map drawing and "virtual
cloning". They are menu-driven, have on-line help and are reasonably
flexible.
