Subject: homolgous recombination / gene targetting
Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1992 13:26:55 +0000

Dear Ed,
Ursula Halfter achieved gene targetting in Arabidopsis using a defective
HPT gene as chromosomal target that was repaired via homologous recombination
using the intact HPT coding region as targetting DNA introduced into protoplasts. This was published recently; Halfter et al., MGG 231, 186-193 (1992). In
addition to the references given there the folowing recent papers deal with
homologous recombination in plants: Puchta et al., Mol. Cell. Biol. 12,
3372-3379 (1992); Engels and Meyer, Plant J. 2, 59-67 (1992); de Groot et al.,
NAR 20, 2785-2794 (1992); Tovar and Lichtenstein, Plant Cell, 4, 319-332 (1992)
Bilang et al., Mol. Cell. Biol. 12, 329-336 (1992); Puchta and Hohn, MGG 230
, 1-7 (1991); Lyznik et al., MGG 230, 209-218 (1991); Gal et al., EMBO J.
10, 1571-1578 (1991); Puchta and Hohn, NAR 19, 2693-2700 (1991); Peterhans et
al., EMBO J. 9, 3437-3445 (1990).
