A second and final announcement for the "International Symposium
on the Molecular Genetics of Root Development"
The meeting will be held Nov. 6-8, 1992 at New York University in
New York City. There will be an opening reception/dinner from 6:00 P.M.
Friday, Nov. 6 followed by the first session at 7:00 P.M. The meeting
will end around noon on Sunday Nov. 8. Speakers are as follows:
K. Roberts (Norwich) The Functional Anatomy of the Arabidopsis Root
N. Kerk (Berkeley) The Quiescent Center and Root Development
R. Williamson (Canberra) Genetics and Cell biological Analysis of
Root Swelling in Arabidopsis
K. Barton (Madison) Initiation of the Root Apical Meristem
P. Benfey (New York) A Molecular Genetic Analysis of Arabidopsis
Root Morphogenesis
K. Okada (Okazaki) Arabidopsis mutants of Stimulation-Response
Interactions in Roots
L. Dolan (Norwich) Cell Differentiation in the root epidermis of
Arabidopsis
I. Sussex (Berkeley) Molecular and Genetic Analysis of Lateral Root
Formation
M. Conkling (Raleigh) Molecular Characterization of Root-expressed genes
T. Bisseling (Wageningen) Root gene expression during Rhizobium infection
N. Mendu (Raleigh) Molecular Characterization of a root cortex-specific
gene from tobacco
K. Feldmann (Tucson) The use of T-DNA tagging in Arabidopsis to study root
Development
As can be seen from the titles the meeting will focus on recent advances
in the study of root development using molecular and genetic approaches.
There will be an emphasis on the use of Arabidopsis as an experimental
system but researchers working on other species will be present and are
encouraged to attend. Additional presentions will be chosen from
poster abstracts.
