FACULTY POSITION IN PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
The Department of Biology at the University of Michigan invites
applications to fill a position for a plant molecular biologist. Although
hiring is anticipated at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor,
candidates at other levels will be considered. An individual is sought
who will employ the techniques of molecular biology to attack significant
problems in plant biology. The most important consideration will be the
quality and potential of the candidate's work, rather than the particular
area of study in plant biology. The Department of Biology has recently
completed a $13 million building renovation, and the new faculty member
will be housed in a modern laboratory. In addition, the Matthaei
Botanical Gardens, a unit of the Department, provides facilities for the
growth of experimental plant material. The Department has facilities for
DNA synthesis and molecular graphics; peptide synthesis and DNA and protein
sequencing facilities are available on campus. The successful candidate
will be expected to conduct an active research program and participate in the
graduate and undergraduate teaching programs of the Department.
Application materials should include a current curriculum vitae and a
statement of research plans. In addition, applicants should have letters
of recommendation sent from at least three referees. All application
materials should be addressed to:
     Dr. Eran Pichersky
Chair, Plant Molecular Biology Search Committee
     Department of Biology
     The University of Michigan
     Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1048
The application deadline is October 15, 1992.
The University of Michigan is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity
Employer.
