Postdoctoral position

Wed Jul 28 09:10:05 EST 1993

** Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Maryland (UMBC) **
A postdoctoral research position funded by the National Science Foundation
is available immediately to investigate the molecular and cellular biology of
transcription factors active in plant embryogenesis.

Our lab has recently cloned multiple cDNA and genomic sequences coding for
putative transcription factors expressed in immature bean embryos. The main
focus will be on studying synergistic interactions among transcription factors
that control gene expression during seed maturation. Specific research projects
will include mapping functional domains by trans-activation assays with a
biolistic particle bombardment system and setting up a two-hybrid system in
the yeast S. cereviciae to study protein:protein interactions. A Ph.D. in
biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics or a closely related field is
required. Experience with gene cloning, yeast genetics or protein purification
is desirable.

Salary will depend on qualifications and will include a generous benefits
package. The UMBC campus is located in residential Catonsville, a short
distance from I-95 and the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Facilities include
modern equipment for gene cloning and protein purification, a recently
purchased Particle Delivery System (BioRad PDS 1000) and a modern greenhouse
currently being renovated under an NSF Science & Technology Infrastructure

Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, statement of research experience
and interests, academic transcripts and names, addresses and phone number
of three references to:
