Dear Network:

We are interested in doing some experiments related to ABA transduction which involves the abi loci in particular abi3 and abi1. The recent progress on abi3 by map-based cloning (Giraudet et al, Plant Cell4 1251-1261) is a major step forward in this area, but I have found relatively little on attempts to walk to or tag abi1. This must be going on out there in arabidopsisland.

I would be very grateful to hear of any progress towards the cloning of the gene responsible for the abi1 phenotype. Maybe there are also things that have been tried, but didn't work out. Any info beyond existing publications mentioned in the AAtDB and associated markers mentioned in the database (as of yesterday) would be appreciated. I will post responses to the network.

Many thanks
