A NSF funded postdoctoral position in protein biochemistry is immediately
available to study the enzymatic properties and functions of the stress
70 molecular chaperones and other cold stress proteins. The project
objectives include: (1) the elucidation of the relationships between
ATP binding and hydrolysis and peptide binding properties of the
various members of the stress 70 family as they function in the plant
cell in the absence of stress; (2) determine their purpose or importance
in adaptation to low temperature; (3) isolate and characterize clones for
all members of the family in spinach; (4) create over- and under-
expression mutants by recombinant methods. The position requires
extensive knowledge of protein biochemistry specifically purification
and enzymology. Experience in molecular biology is helpful but not
required. Salary is competitive and will depend on the level of
experience. Interested individuals should contact Charles Guy
by return e-mail. My e-mail address is clg at gnv.ifas.ufl.edu.
