Does anybody know how to make "propionic carmine"?

I am a undergraduate student at University of Rochester. Currently, I am trying 
to find the way to make 1 % propionic carmine for staining the Arabidopsis 
pollens. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a book having the protocol. The protocol 
is in a book written by Sharma, A.K & Sharma,A. and called "Chromosome 
Techniques: Theory and Practice, 3rd edn, 711 pp.. This book was published by 
Butterworths, London in 1980.  Does anybody know this book or how to make the 1% 
Propionic Carmine Dye?  It would be a great help for me and my arabidopsis.
