The following assistant professor position is available with the University
of Maryland Biotechnology Institute

TENURE-TRACK FACULTY
PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
UNIVERSITY OF MAYLAND BIOTECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE

The Center for Agricultural Biotechnology (CAB) invites applications for
tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor.  CAB,
one of four research centers of the University of Maryland Biotechnology
Institute (UMBI), emphasizes research that focuses on the molecular biology
of plant and animal improvement, specifically, plant-pathogen interactions,
insect molecular genetics and evolution, poultry viruses and vaccines, and
biochemical engineering.

The applicant's research program should address basic problems in plant
genetics, physiology, development and/or metabolism that pertain to
agricultural biotechnology.  Preferred research areas include i) the study
of plant responses to pathogens and/or pests, ii) the effects of abiotic
environmental stresses on plant health, or iii) other research areas that
relate to improving plant productivity.

The applicant's research program must be sustainable in a competitive
funding environment.  The investigator is expected to build a dynamic
research group within the setting of an interdisciplinary research
