A post doc/molecular biologist position at the Center for Plant Breeding
and Reproduction Research (CPRO-DLO) is available immediately for the
investigation and genetic modification of amino acid metabolism in plants
with Arabidopsis thaliana as a model species. Genes involved in the
biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids will be isolated, analysed and
mutagenised in transgenic plants. Undesired side branches will be inhibited
using antisense (see Plant Journal, 1994; 6, 201-212) and sense co-
supression techniques (see Plant Journal, 1994; 5, 33-44).
Required: well trained, highly motivated molecular biologist with a solid
experience of plant molecular biology (gene isolation, computer aided
databank handling, construction of gene constructs, production and analysis
of transgenic plants). A highly motivated researcher with demonstrated
research experience (articles).
Highly favourable: molecular genetic experience, "Arabidopsis" experience,
sound knowledge of amino acid metabolism in plants.
Reactions: before 25 march 1995 to one of the addresses indicated below
A grant for three years will be supplied with salary and benefits in
correlation with experience. For more information contact Dr A.J. van Tunen, Dr I.M. van der Meer,
