As part of an ongoing effort to archive Dr. MG Neuffer's lifetime
results in maize mutant hunting, MaizeDB is happy to announce the
inclusion of over 2900 mutant images, carefully selected by Gerry
Neuffer from his slide collection. The images represent 1685 separate
mutations, where some 411 have been placed to chromosome arm or
better.

Note: this group of images is distinct from those to be published in
"Mutants of Maize".

We provide access from a special WWW page:
     http://www.agron.missouri.edu/NeufferImages.html
which lists the mutations, sorted by map location. This page also describes
how to formulate database queries for mutants with particular phenotypes.

The WWW access page is also listed on the WWW page, "Of Interest to
Maize Cooperators", accessible from the MaizeDB home page:
    http://www.agron.missouri.edu

Image files are currently being stored at two locations, AGIS (National
Agricultural Library) and Columbia, Missouri; both locations are
accessible from the above listing.

Any availability of seed stocks from the Maize Genetics Cooperation -
Stock Center will be posted on individual mutant records in MaizeDB by
Marty Sachs, Director of the Stock Center. These up-to-the-minute
records are directly accessible from the WWW listings of mutants with
images.

Please -- feel free to let us know if you enjoy the images -- or what we
may do to improve your access.

Cheers,

-mary polacco
