Arabidopsis Molecular Geneticist
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate funded
under the BBSRCs 1996 ROPA scheme 'Cells and Molecules'. The project is
entitled 'Isolation of genes for engineered apomixis in crop plants'.
Harnessing apomixis ('seeds without sex') is a now a major goal in
applied plant genetic engineering. The scientific programme will involve
the isolation of Arabidopsis mutants that develop seed and/or endosperm
without fertilisation and the cloning of the corresponding genes.
The post is for 3 years and is available from 1 October 1996. Applicants
should have a Ph.D in an appropriate discipline and preferably have
experience in molecular biology and genetics, and Arabidopsis
mutagenesis. Salary will be on the R&A1A scale (#14,317 to 21,519 pa)
according to age and experience.
