Postdoctoral Position
University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin (New)
A postdoctoral position is available immediately to investigate the
molecular structure of plant centromeres. A repetitive DNA element
which is conserved in distantly related plant species has been cloned
recently in my lab. Research projects will involve cloning,
sequencing, and mapping this element and new centromere-related DNA
sequences. The organization and structure of such sequences will be
analyzed at both molecular and cellular levels. Background in
molecular biology and laboratory skills of DNA manipulation are
required. Research experiences on protein and/or large insert genomic
DNA libraries (YAC, BAC) are helpful. The person is expected to
interact actively with the scientists in the two Arabidopsis labs in
the same building. Salary will be about $25,500/year depending on
experiences. Send curriculum vitae, brief statement of experience and
goals, and names, addresses, and phone numbers of three references to:
Dr. Jiming Jiang (jjiang1 at facstaff.wisc.edu) (out of town from July 14
to Aug. 8), Department of Horticulture, University of
Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI 53706. Fax: 608-262-1878
