homologue vs ortholog

 I think the term of the ortholog comes from evolutionary
aspects.My understanding is that homologs are much broader term.
Orthologs, which have high homologies, play a very similar role in different 
species. Moreover, there is one more term, paralogs  which have high
homologies but play a different role in different species.  I hope not
to confuse you by my explanation.  Thanks for kind attention.
