Post-doctoral position in Apomixis

CSIRO PLANT INDUSTRY, Canberra, Australia AND CSIRO HORTICULTURE, Adelaide
Australia wish to appoint motivated Post Doctoral Fellows to work on an
Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) funded
project to establish molecular tools to achieve apomixis (seed set without
fertilisation) in rice.  Apomictic and sexual Hieracium species will be used
at the Adelaide lab for testing and fine tuning of apomictic-like genes
isolated from Arabidopsis in the CSIRO Plant Industry lab.  The project will
also involve cytological analyses and in situ gene expression studies.

You will need a Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology or a related discipline
and have experience in the study of developmental processes in multicellular
organisms at the molecular level.  You should not have more than three years
relevant experience since confirmation of your degree.  Good communication
skills and skills in molecular biology, in situ hybridisation and a general
knowledge of plant or animal development is also required.
