POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Molecular Biolgy and Biochemistry of Plant Cell Growth
Penn State University
Two postdoctoral positions are available to work on molecular mechanisms
of plant cell enlargement and its control. Possible studies include:
analysis of expansin* gene expression and gene structure;
construction and analysis of mutants with antisense and
overexpression of wall proteins;
biochemical and molecular analysis of expansin action in the cell
wall;
alterations in wall structure relevant to control of cell
enlargement;
(* see Plant Cell 4: 1425, PNAS 91: 6574, 92: 9245; BioEssays 18: 533)
Applicants should have substantial experience in molecular biology,
genetics and/or protein biochemistry.
Please send as soon as possible (by email) a curriculum vitae, a
statement of research experience and research interests, and the names
of three references (including address, phone, fax, email). Evidence of
research creativity and of enthusiasm for the research area is welcomed.
The position is available August 15 or sooner.
Penn State offers an interdisciplinary program in plant biology, with
particular emphasis on molecular and cellular aspects of plant
development and plant physiology. Active interactions among faculty, as
well as lively seminar programs, make this a favorable, even enjoyable,
place for research. The campus is located in central Pennsylvania and
offers the attractions of a rural setting with the cultural ambiance of
a large college town.
