A fully funded Ph.D., supported by an endowment from Shell Forestry, is
available, from January 1, 1998, to investigate some of the mechanisms
involved in the control of flowering in woody plants. This project will
involve the functional analysis of genes hypothesised to be involved in
the regulation of flower development in woody plants, and the use of
modified versions of these same genes in transgenic trees. The project
will be supervised by Malcolm Campbell in the Department of Plant Sciences
at the University of Oxford and, in part, by Dr. Knut Meyer at Shell
