POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY
available at the
UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
We are looking for a well trained, highly motivated and enthusiastic
individual interested in developing Arabidopsis as a system for manipulating
seed fatty acid metabolism by genetic engineering to create industrially
interesting oil profiles.
The applicant must have expertise in molecular biological techniques such as
gene isolation, computer aided databank handling, preparation of plasmid
constructs, Northern analysis, PCR. Experience in plant biochemistry,
especially in the area of plant lipid metabolism, production and analysis of
transgenic plants, and a good understanding of genetics would be highly
desirable. Salary will be commensurate with experience, in the range between
$28,000 and $35,000.
The position is available immediately for an initial period of 1 year, with a
possibility for extension subject to satisfactory performance and
