 FACULTY POSITION
 VASCULAR PLANT SYSTEMATIST


The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks a vascular plant systematist
for a tenure-track assistant professor appointment to begin August 1, 1998.
A Ph.D. is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred. A commitment
to excellence in research and teaching is essential. Applicants should
combine field-oriented, whole-plant floristics or taxonomy with the
informed application of state-of-the-art technology. Graduate supervision
and external research support are expected. Teaching duties will include
participation in introductory courses and development of appropriate
advanced courses. Applicants should submit a complete curriculum vita (no
more than five reprints), a brief (no more than two pages) summary of
research interests, and three letters of recommendation to: Dr. Ronald H.
Petersen, Department of Botany, University of Tennessee,  Knoxville, TN
