The Arabidopsis thaliana Database (AtDB) is seeking to employ database
Duties will be computer-based and will mainly comprise collecting,
analyzing and summarizing information from the scientific literature, the
Web, and direct submissions; particularly that relating to DNA sequence,
gene and gene product and genetic and physical maps.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in plant molecular
biology/genetics or a related field. Arabidopsis experience is preferred,
but is not essential. Candidates familiar with other model systems,
particularly if skilled in DNA and protein function and analysis, will be
Experience with the Web, spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), word processing
software, DNA/Protein sequence analysis software and Medline searching
would be an advantage, but is not essential, as training will be given.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are, however, essential.
Candidates seeking part-time positions may be considered as will those
wishing to work remotely ("tele-commute") from within the US. Salary
commensurate with experience, ranging from $46,000 to $54,000 per year.
