POST-DOCTORAL POSITION in structure-function relationships of plant
desaturase enzymes in the lab of John Shanklin.  The position is available
immediately.

The lab focuses on understanding the specificity of lipid modification
enzymes
with the goal of reengineering them for desired properties.   Thus, this
work is
intended to yield specific information regarding mechanisms of specificity at
the biochemical level, but has applications in the area of biotechnology and
metabolic engineering.

A strong background in molecular biology and/or biochemistry is preferred.

Brookhaven is a scientific research facility operated by Brookhaven Science
Associates under contract with the US Department of Energy.  It is located on

the State University of New York at Stony Brook (located 15 miles away).
