Molecular genetics/Arabidopsis</bigger></bigger>
A postdoctoral associate is sought immediately to study DNA mismatch
repair
in Arabidopsis. The successful applicant will develop an in planta
reporter
system to easily and rapidly monitor mismatch repair activity in vivo.
This
reporter system will then be used to study available transformants
and/or
insertional mutants altered in key mismatch repair genes. Funding for
this
position is available for up to 2 years (and may be renewed
afterwards).
The laboratory is located at Laval University in historic Quebec City,
Canada. One of a small number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Quebec
City
offers the unique atmosphere of a north american city with a definite
old
world touch. Street-side cafes, fine restaurants and bakeries by the
dozen
contribute to the charm of Quebec City. Winter sports lovers are well
served by the close proximity (30 min.) of numerous ski resorts and
all
sorts of other recreational activities. For more information go to:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and demonstrated
skill in transformation/genetic analysis. Experience with Arabidopsis
is
not required but preference will be given to candidates with experience
in
a plant system.
To apply, send a curriculum vitae and the names of three references
