POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS in BIOINFORMATICS and FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS
Postdoctoral positions in bioinformatics functional genomics are
available starting March 2000 at the Botanical Institute of the
University of Cologne. You will join a team that conducts research in
the area of Functional Genomics of Arabidopsis. The project focuses on
the investigation of membrane protein functions, with special emphasis
on solute transporters.
Bioinformatics: The successful candidate will develop programs for
classification of membrane proteins and database screening, conduct
bioinformatic analysis and research using data from DNA expression
microarrays and develop a database and methods to interpret and exploit
molecular genetic and physiological data. Strong communicative skills
Functional Genomics: The work will involve the analysis of mutants,
multiplex expression analysis (cDNA arrays), establishing defined growth
conditions for Arabidopsis, and preparation and characterization of
membrane protein fractions. You should preferentially have a background
in plant physiology and protein biochemistry, and experience in
molecular biology. Strong communicative skills are essential.
