A Postdoctoral Research
Associate Position is available in the Laboratory for Crop Genome
Analysis working on polyploid Arabidopsis and crops. The lab is
interested in understanding genome organization and parental gene
expression in polyploid Arabidopsis and important crops such as
Brassica, cotton, and wheat. Polyploidization is an important
evolutionary process involved in the formation of over 70% of flowering
plants including many crops. We will address some interesting
questions at basic and applied levels using genomic and biochemical
approaches. We are studying genetics of polyploid plants and
investigating gene regulation mechanism that is not based on DNA
sequence, a phenomenon called epigenetics.

The incumbent is responsible for developing cDNA and genomic
microarrays to analyze changes in genome structure and gene expression
in polyploid plants. Requirements include a Ph. D in genetics,
biology, or related disciplines with motivation to be successful in a
research career. Salary is competitive and commensurate with
experience. Interested person should send a statement of career goals
along with a copy of resume including publication lists and names and
addresses of three references to zjchen at acs.tamu.edu, Dr. Z. Jeffrey
Chen, Laboratory for Crop Genome Analysis, Texas A&M University,
College Station, TX 77843-2474. Texas A&M University is an equal
opportunity/affirmative action employer.
